15 Ways to Build Exercise into Your Daily Routine
Yes, we know that we all need to get at least 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 times a week. And a good hour at the gym or in your favorite fitness class is fantastic. But some days it’s hard to fit that in and even if you are sticking to a regular fitness routine, it’s still a good idea to build moderate exercise into your daily lifestyle. The healthiest people on earth actually don’t engage in strenuous exercise for long periods of time, they simply build movement into their daily routine. Here are some ways that I like to keep my body moving.
Do squats while washing dishes, filling up water bottles, or anywhere you can!
Squeeze in a 10 to 20 minute exercise routine from YouTube
Sit on the balance ball and do leg lifts and crunches while you watch TV or between folding laundry
DANCE while you sweep and mop- forget about how funny you look and have fun with it!
Go for a 10-minute walk in your neighborhood
Do leg lifts and arm circles while you’re laying in bed. I do this as soon as I wake up in the morning to get moving!
If you sit at a computer- set a timer to get out of your chair every 30 minutes
Work it at your desk - tighten your core as you twist from side to side in your chair, do leg lifts or arm circles
Try a standing desk converter so that you can move from sitting to standing
